Sewage Treatment System and Biogas Production

:: Benefitting from biogas technology in micro and macro level has been considered as an appealing approach particularly in the development, and management projects and organization of organic wastes produced in urban and rural regions. As a recyclable energy source with many economic and social benefits as well as significant role in solving environmental problems caused by pollutants and organic waste contamination in human community, bio-gas has been able to draw the attention of many developed and developing countries and international organizations to itself. It is noteworthy that the sources that are used as the raw materials in this technology are mainly those sources that cause vast environmental pollutions and are risks to human societies’ health; while if they are used in biogas technology, they will change into rich and valuable resources.

Cycle of biogas production and consumption

:: The human, animal and plant garbage and wastes (pollutants with organic origin) could be used in biogas production process. The biogas production sources in the country are divided into five classes:

  1. Cattle discharge
  2. Agricultural and woods wastes
  3. Urban and rural sewer
  4. Urban garbage and waste
  5. Industrial waste waters

:: The organic discharge and wastes that are used in this technology as raw materials are treated by fermentation in suitable conditions, deprived from oxygen and in presence of anaerobic bacteria, and produce biogas. Another product of this process is the nutrients that could be used as fertilizer. Biogas is also known as swamp gas too. It is a clean, flammable and lighter than air gas which is considered as a type of fuel and contains following elements:
