Nano filtration system (NF)

:: Nano technology has covered a vast range of facilities and applications. It is one of the most extraordinary technologies of the 21st century. Pollution of drinking water sources and impossibility to treat and purify polluted sources with conventional methods on one hand, and nitrate pollutants in underground resources are among the dangers that make the need to adopting alternative methods of purification more tangible.

:: One of these methods is nano-filtration which has received good attention across the world in recent years. The ability to remove bacteria and viruses is very high in this method and compared to reverse osmosis (RO) method, NF is more economical and has easier utilization.

:: Today, more researches are being done on new applied studies such as removing single capacity ions. Separation in those membrane works based on filtering mechanism and on the other hand, as the membranes are charged, the reaction between membrane and passing fluid are effective in the separation process.

:: Nano filtration is one of the membrane purification methods that remove many compounds with high molecular mass and water solubility. The nano-filtration membranes remove water hardness except few ions with low molecular mass that are useful for body. This method also removes larger organic molecules such as water color, almost all viruses, many natural organic substances and some of the salts. The holes size of nano-filtration filters is around 0.001 micron.

Advantages of nano-filtration methods:

  1. Lower energy consumption
  2. Less costs than RO method
  3. higher discharge rate of products
  4. Better quality water discharge, suitable for drinking
  5. Lower maintenance costs than RO method
  6. Bigger output than RO method
  7. Longer life of nano-filtration membranes than RO

Applications of nano-filtration methods

  1. Purification of surface and sub-surface waters for drinking consumptions
  2. Purification and treatment of industrial- agricultural waste waters
  3. Removal of organic pollutants from water
  4. Disinfection of surface and underground waters
  5. Removing color from drinking water
